DIY Glittered Chevron Pumpkin

Happy Halloween week!  I can't believe the end of October is already here.  In case October has flown by for you as well, here is a fun craft you can do this week before Halloween passes us by!

Supplies Needed:
*Spray Adhesive
*Glitter
*Acrylic Paint
*Paint Brush
*Pumpkin
*Painter's Tape
Steps:
1. Use the painter's tape to create a chevron design around the pumpkin.
You can do as many rows as you would like!
2. Spray adhesive on the rows you would like glitter.
{Make the glitter rows first! If you paint the black rows first
you will end up with glitter on all of the rows}
3. Use the paint brush to paint the colored rows.
3. Peel the painters tape off while the paint and glitter are still wet!
Trust me, if you wait until the paint is dry, the tape will pull everything off with it!

The final product:
Glittered Chevron Pumpkin!*
*the lighting got really bad by the end of our project so I apologize for the harsh flash!

And in case you were wondering, here is a sneak peak of Q's halloween costume :)

Happy Hallow's Eve!

On another note, I have been in the Halloween spirit all week and I love that this orange blazer fits right in :)

6. Love2   7. Sequin   8. Pardon My French   9. Frenchie

Anyone else noticing the fun statement sweaters that are popping up all over the stores recently?  Truthfully, I wasn't a huge fan when I first started seeing the crazy phrases and funky characters.  But like most trends, I started to really love it!  I also can't get enough of the bold prints {like the fair isle and sequin textures} that have hit the stores.  What are your favorite statement sweaters for this fall??

Middle of Nowhere

Similar Items: Striped Dress | Boots | Socks | Scarf {handmade by my bestie!}

I had so much fun with my best friends this past weekend.  We got to spend the weekend in a cabin in the middle of nowhere {Boone, IA}.  It was so peaceful and quiet in the woods and we had a blast catching up over coffee in front of the fireplace.  I already miss them so much... Can't wait until next time :)

FFL - Pave Bracelet

I wanted to give you all a heads up that I found a budget friendly version of the Pave Link Bracelet from J.Crew that SO many people are sporting these days. Remember this beauty??

Well... Forever 21 just came out with their version of this bracelet!

I'm know the quality is nowhere near the quality J.Crew produces in their jewelry.  But, if you are someone that gets sick of items quickly {like me!} and moves on to the next new thing {like me!} then go for the Forever 21 version!  For under $20 it's well worth it!  If any of you get this bracelet, let us know how you like it!

What to Pack: Iowa

  My southern belle bestie is coming to visit me all the way from Dallas this weekend!  We haven't seen each other in almost a year so we have a lot of catching up to do!  Since she is not used to the Iowa weather anymore, she asked me to do a post on what she should pack for her trip.  Since we don't have any major plans besides drinking wine, telling fun stories and braiding each other's hair {kidding! okay, sort of...}, I added a lot of cozy and comfortable pieces that would transition well to an evening out.  Hopefully this packing list will also be useful for those of you traveling this time of year.

1. A cozy bright turtleneck will be great for under a vest!
2. Love this herringbone vest.  Perfect for a fall day.
3.  These black pants pair well with anything.  Go for a casual look with black riding boots or a night out with the oxblood booties.
4. Chambray shirt.  Need I say more? Can go with everything on the list...
5. Cat-Eye Sunglasses are a must.
6. These suede oxblood booties are super cute and would be great for a night of cocktails!
7.  Skinny jeans.
8. Boyfriend jeans My weekend uniform.
9. Gold Earrings. Super cute with a little edge.
10. Gold Necklace.
11.  Black Bag.  Big enough to hold everything you need!
12. Leopard Scarf
13. Black riding boots.  Of course brown ones would work too!
14. Sweater cape.  It can get pretty windy here so throw this on over your outfit.
16. Polka Dot Sweater. Can't get enough of polka dots!
17. Leather jacket.  Perfect for the Midwest this time of year.
18. Wool fedora.  I love this hat and will probably be my new 'panama hat' for fall :)

Shoes Galore!

For some reason I have been all about shoes lately.  I realized when organizing my closet recently that I have a lot of shoes but not a lot of variety.  And now that I am in a position at work where I am not on my feet all day I want to spruce up my heel collection.  Here are some shoes I've been lusting after lately to bring some color and diversity to my wardrobe!

1. These would dress up any outfit!
2.  I have a pair of leopard loafers but a pair of leopard heels is a must.
3.  I love this color of teal. {and the suede!}
4.  I just purchased a pair of cognac riding boots which seem to be the biggest fall accessory.  I have been searching for a long time for the perfect pair.  {I will share with you once I receive mine!}
5.  I LOVE the wedge sneaker lately! They had me at hint of glitter.
6.  The LBB (Little Black Bootie) is a necessity for winter.  Pairs well with black tights and a sheath dress.
7.  These oxfords are perfectly neutral but the pop of color on the sole adds character.
8.  A pair of wellies is a must in the Midwest. Hunter always has the cutest ones!
9.  Bows. Need I say more? Love them.

First 5k - The Color Run

I am running in my first 5k on Saturday.  I know that is only 3.1 miles but I am NOT a runner.  To make up for my lack of skills I have been training daily by walking briskly through my office and thinking about running while I watch t.v. at night.  Totally prepared.

Luckily I am running with some great friends and this race looks super fun!  Spectators literally through color at you... How cool is that?!

Wish me luck! Anyone else running in this race!?  If you are in the Des Moines area check it out!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Pumpkin Patch this weekend to pick out our pumpkins.  Q is old enough this year that he picked out his own pumpkin and truly had a blast.  It is so much fun as a parent to live vicariously through your child.  Everything he experiences is new and amazing.  I now get to feel that way through each adventure we share!
